The River and I
the calling of the river
its waters seeping into my skin
flashing years of resistance
for a reason unknown
unexplained
I see land
oh so ordinary
so typical
what about the magical trees
and wild fruits
and the season of sensuality
this land is no different to mine
the journey has been so long
so tiresome
all this seems futile
my heart begins to sulk
when a dainty figure
not too far away smiles at me
and whispers
Don't cry my child
you had guarded this gift of god
with all your might and flight
the time had come for you
to cross the river
as this life of yours beckons
I turn back and look at the river
that kept me afloat
I thank the river as I have crossed
her waters
As I bid her goodbye, I hope we shall meet
one day another lifetime
This time
I promise to cherish every moment
of a journey.
the journey of life
my life.
